The next episode of my podcast, airing on Monday, November 11th, 2024, will be “Remembering Hal Blaine: Legendary Drummer and Session Musician.”
This episode will be a tribute to Hal Blaine, one of the most influential drummers in rock music history.
Known for his extensive work as a session musician, Blaine recorded over 35,000 sessions and 6,000 singles. His drumming can be heard on 150 U.S. Top 10 hits, with 40 of those reaching #1.
A key member of Phil Spector‘s legendary “Wrecking Crew,” Blaine was part of the unofficial house band that powered countless iconic songs. This year marks the 5th anniversary of Blaine’s passing on March 11, 2019, and he would have celebrated his 95th birthday on February 5, 2024.
We’ll be playing music from a variety of artists Blaine recorded with, including:
- The Ronettes
- Herb Alpert
- The Beach Boys
- The Byrds
- Elvis Presley
- Frank Sinatra
- The Monkees
- The Association
- Gary Lewis and the Playboys
- Tommy Roe
- Simon & Garfunkel
