Abbey Road Studios

My radio show on Monday, October 31st, 2022 was about Abbey Road Studios.

Abbey Road Studios is a recording studio located at 3 Abbey Road, St John’s Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of the British music company EMI.

The studio’s most notable client was the Beatles. They used the studio, which is Studio Two room as the venue for many of the innovative recording techniques that they adopted throughout the 1960s. In 1976, the studio was renamed from EMI to Abbey Road, in honor of their final recorded album.

We played music from the Beatles and different British Rock artists including:

• Cliff Richard
• Gerry and the Pacemakers Billy J. Kramer
• The Hollies
• Pink Floyd
• Donovan and a few others recorded at this famous studio.

And discussed the history of Abbey Road, how it started in 1931, and the producers including George Martin, the engineers, and more.

Also, I’ll be doing a presentation on Abbey Road Studios for The International Beatles on the Beach Festival.
