π»πΈ The radio show of Monday, June 12th, was dedicated to π€ The Rolling Stones! π
We explored the journey of one of the greatest English rock bands, formed in London π¬π§. Their incredible career spans six decades and they pioneered the sound that defined hard rock.
We’ll delved into the history of the Rolling Stones, from their early days performing covers and leading the British Invasion πΆ. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Mick Taylor, and Ronnie Wood became synonymous with the rebellious counterculture of the 1960s.
Their iconic hits “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” (1965), “Get Off of My Cloud” (1965), and “Paint It Black” (1966) topped the charts. π΅ Aftermath (1966) marked a turning point as their first all-original album, while “Ruby Tuesday” and “Let’s Spend the Night Together” showcased their experimentation with psychedelic rock on Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967).
Returning to their rhythm and blues roots, they rocked the world with “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” (1968) and “Honky Tonk Women” (1969). Albums like Beggars Banquet (1968) and Let It Bleed (1969) featuring “Sympathy for the Devil” captivated audiences. πΈ
The band’s journey saw the tragic loss of Brian Jones in 1969, later replaced by Mick Taylor. They were hailed as “The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World” and their hits kept coming with albums like Sticky Fingers (1971) featuring “Brown Sugar” and Exile on Main St. (1972) with “Tumbling Dice”. Ronnie Wood joined in 1974, and they continued to conquer charts with Some Girls (1978) and Tattoo You (1981). πΆ
Their albums Steel Wheels (1989) and Voodoo Lounge (1994) marked their comeback, with worldwide success. The Rolling Stones became legendary concert attractions, breaking records with their highest-grossing tours. π₯ By 2021, they were still the highest-earning live act of the year.
