The latest episode of my podcast, which aired on Monday, January 27th, 2025, was a thrilling celebration of The Beatles and the influential music of the 60s and 70s.

• Psychedelic Rock: Emerging from the counterculture, psychedelic rock featured surreal lyrics, experimental sounds, and mind-bending effects. Bands like Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience pushed boundaries and created immersive sonic landscapes.

• Power Pop: Blending rock energy with pop sensibilities, power pop delivered catchy hooks and jangly guitars. Bands like Badfinger and The Raspberries brought a fresh, melodic perspective to the rock scene.

• Soft Rock: Known for its soothing melodies and introspective lyrics, soft rock emerged in the 70s as a mellow counterpoint to harder styles. Artists like James Taylor and The Carpenters became icons of this genre.

• Classic Rock: Combining the best of rock’s formative years, classic rock includes timeless tracks that remain popular today. Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and The Eagles became staples of this era.

• Hard Rock: Featuring heavy riffs, powerful vocals, and intense energy, hard rock gave rise to bands like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, setting the stage for later metal genres.
